Because your Historical Society Needs You!
Have you ever wanted to get involved in the Historical Society, but didn't know how? Or to share your excitement about history with others but were afraid you "didn't know enough"? We have the cure! On Sunday, May 6 from 2-4 p.m. the Society will be holding a "Volunteer Orientation" to introduce new volunteers to our organization and welcome back existing volunteers who want to "brush up" on their knowledge.
The session will include an informative tour of the museum's exhibits as well as an introduction to our library and collections rooms--areas that are generally off-limits to the public. Volunteers interested in working in genealogy, house dating, and collections can learn about opportunities in those areas.
The session will be particularly helpful to those who are or would like to serve as museum ambassadors. These important volunteers welcome visitors to our museum during open hours and may also help out with programs for scouts, schoolchildren or other groups.
We welcome volunteers from high school age on up!
